How did you enjoy National S'Mores Day on Friday?

I had an uncooperative firepit that barely managed to cook the homemade tandoori chicken kebabs and grilled asparagus I made, so dessert was made over candles.

For dessert, I had a small assortment of marshmallows and cookies to work with. Here are the results:

Traditional s'mores (roasted marshmallow, Hershey's bar, graham cracker): classic, delicious
Gourmet s'mores (roasted marshmallow and Le Petite Écolier cookies): delicious
Circus s'mores (roasted circus peanut candy...): nasty, smelled like burned PVC pipes, inedible
Roasted Hot Dog Marshmallow: nightmarish
(This was a marshmallow hot dog, complete with marshmallow bun and marshmallow mustard squiggle. The hot dog had a very artificial strawberry taste, like astronaut ice cream, and the bun was more citrusy. It was positively heinous.)

The discovery of the day, though, was the modified Gourmet s'more, using little Japanese blueberry-filled marshmallows. Two of them fit perfectly between Le Petite Écolier cookies to make an inspired chocolate-blueberry east-west fusion s'more.

I shall be on the hunt for seasonal Peeps as we get closer to Halloween...
