I love Tim Powers

Have you ever read Three Days to Never?  The introduction is eerie, taking an ambulance ride from the Mount Shasta City hospital (where both of my daughters were born), past my dad's old office, past his old house, through downtown, past my high school and up the mountain...

I just love how Powers turns a phrase.  This one comes from a drive down I-10 in southern California:"She also disapproved of a city called Claremont being right next to one named Montclair.  She thought there should be a third one, Mairn-Clot."
