Well, the old boss just owned up to the fact that he is now a worker bee and we all have a new boss. Probably a good move for the business and the region, but it's a huge pendulum swing. The old boss was process-bound and close-minded. The new boss is process-phobic and doesn't believe in limitations. No concerns for my job, but it's a whole new ball game now.

For M:tG fans, the right analogy here would be that it's time to re-build my Magic deck. The old one was kind of a white/blue deck of denial. The new one will have to have lots of green 1/1 cannon fodder.

I guess that means that agility and superior political abilities were key in the past. Looking to the future, things may have to slow down a little bit, and superior bureaucratic navigation will be key.

The only constant around here is change...

Good... so IF I/we come out to FLARF next year, I get to spend evenings at your house so you can teach me that game that I risked life and limb for on behalf of my son when he was in high school (but never deigned to teach his old man)... RIGHT?

Heavens to Betsy! I haven't played that game for years! [livejournal.com profile] robyn_badfellow would probably be a better tutor. :)

For some reason, thinking about corporate office politics put me in the mind of a game, and I needed an analogy that showed adapting to a new ruleset. Come to think of it, FLUXX would have been the perfect analogy...

Or, perhaps, that game called "middle management" that I have yet to break open.
