  1. bedlam:
Mentioned in my previous interests posts. Nice, mellow rennie folk music that lacks a certain drummer these days.
  2. cooking:
Unfortunately, I learned this love after I left the house, so I never really cooked with my mother. Fortunately, I learned it after I contracted the alleged Wanderlust and there is a romantic story involved. I love to cook new things, or cook old things in new ways. There is something very special about an artform that must be consumed to be appreciated. The ephemeral nature of such art somehow makes it more precious, in my mind.
  3. fantasy:
OK, I both live and play in my head. What of it? At least I bring it out into the fresh air at a Faire from time to time... ;)
  4. iron chef:
I love both versions (Japan & US), but for different reasons. Iron Chef introduced audiences to a new way to think about cooking: Head-to-head competition between culinary superstars. The US version may be more tame, gastronomically speaking, but Alton Brown hosts!
  5. manhattan transfer:
I was listening to the Transfer when I should have been listening to 80's pop. There is nothing that transports my soul like tight vocal jazz, and nobody could make complex, cerebral vocalese as approachable as the Transfer did. Best song? A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square.
  6. nightcrawler:
My favorite X-man, Kurt Wagner. He was poorly portrayed by Alan Cumming in X2, but like most of my favorites, he's a strong, supportive character. He's a doctor, a priest-in-training, a swashbuckler (hold your tongue, [livejournal.com profile] robyn_badfellow!), and a fuzzy blue elf that teleports.
  7. redheads:
Who doesn't love redheads?! I've been addicted since I first developed my fifth-grade crush on Amy Batchelder. It's an addiction I don't ever plan to get over, either. ;)
  8. rum:
A good rum is one you can stand a spoon in but still drink neat. Spices are optional. White rum is just Caribbean vodka.

"I drink a rum in the mornin',
I drink a rum at night.
I drink a rum in the afternoon
'Cuz it makes me feel all right!"
    - Pyrates Royale
  9. tanstaafl:
As our dear departed St. Bob told us, "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch." There really ain't. If something claims to be free, take some time to calculate the hidden costs. I think that this should be canonized as the "Law of the Conservation of Lunches."
  10. yellow:
What can I say? It's my color!

I thought Alan Cummings did a great job as Nightcrawler! He was the best thing about X2. He's my second favorite after Gambit (who I can't, for some reason, cast in my head).

Don't get me wrong - he did a fine job of playing a blue, teleporting character in the movie X2. The movie was definitely better for having him. He just didn't play the Nightcrawler from the comic books.
