Home again, home again
Sep. 26th, 2005 07:36 amAhhhh. Had a delightful time this weekend. I really needed to get away. Work has had me moored in the doldrums, and this weekend was just what the doctor ordered.
So I zipped up to New York for a weekend getaway at an away Faire. Our dear
mjstarfire played host at the Tuxedo Ren Faire, and it was a glorious day. Tux is on a site with permanent structures (which is always nice), and this site rambles through the woods and around some lazy-looking ponds. Tux is also home to the guilds, and the guilds seem to have a very special relationship with the Faire. I was very impressed by that. The line between patron and cast blurs somewhat, and to a wonderful effect. I finally picked up my Rogue pin, and got a little misty when I was greeted as "Brother" by a fellow Rogue who is as purple as I am yellow. I've never been in a fraternity before! *sniff*
The weather was lovely with days in the 70's and nights in the 50's. That's Christmas weather down here in Florida. ;) The trees were just barely beginning to turn. Seeing all of the northern trees made me a tad homesick for my native Northern California, but that brought me to the realization that I seem to feel just as "at home" as "out of place" wherever I go. I suppose that means I carry "home" with me. That's a handy trick I must have learned by never spending more a hand-and-a-half-full of years in one place.
May you all enter this week refreshed and ready to face your everyday life, and may you cherish your home, wherever you find it.

Date: 2005-09-26 12:19 pm (UTC)Next time we have to try to do the whole invasion thing again. Maybe for CTRF next year. They don't have a hard site, but it's still a great faire, especially for one so young.
Hugs to all, see you in a few weeks!
