Today was a very ok day. I found out that I wasn't getting the cool out-of-town trip after all, but at least my best friend (Vivi) was. She's had a really crappy last few months, and this trip is the latest in a string of nice things that she has really needed lately. She found the perfect apartment, she's rediscovering her creative side, and she's just a little bit happy for the first time in months.

I came home this evening to find my beloved gimp having a lovely and heartfelt phone conversation, #1 daughter peacefully deciding to go to bed early, and #2 daughter typing up the lyrics to the song she had written for her school's talent show. It's hard to come up with a more lovely and peaceful setting. I sat down to watch Antonia's Line, a beautiful movie about life (including death) and intentional family. Sipping a glass of malbec, I watched as four generations of women defied convention to live lovely lives that infected those around them with joy. Bonnie, you should spring this one on Himself - it's Dutch and darkly beautiful. As the movie drew to a close, Rico came home and started working his magic on the martini shaker.

Tonight is a very much-more-than-ok night. The house almost feels right...

May peace and joy find each of you all this night.

I love reading your journal entries. The last few days they've made me feel so serene. But...Huey Lewis? *giggle*

Hey, call me anacronistic, but I always loved how Huey Lewis & the News brought a taste of the 50's into the 80's. Of course, Stray Cats achieved the same goal in a very different way, but I enjoyed them both for it.
