My muse has returned !

Being less engaged in creative efforts on a day-to-day basis than dear juno_magic, I have a more casual relationship with my muse. Sometimes she's here, sometimes she's not. We don't always talk every day. I hadn't even noticed that she hadn't been around for a while until this week, when a nearly-empty fridge defied me to create something for dinner on Tuesday.

I surprised myself (rolling a natural 20, insegnante) by summoning a tart-but-tasty, loosely interpreted pasta puttanesca. It had mixed reviews with the little one, but I wowed at least myself. Wednesday was a crock-pot roast swimming in wine & turnips - a crowd pleaser. Thursday, I invented "Greek sushi" by wrapping cold cuts around halloumi, sauteeing them till both crisp and gooey, then igniting them in arak (no ouzo in the house) with caraway & oregano. Lemon juice on top, and they didn't even sit around long enough to cool. ;-)

Lunch today? Bratwurst on a bun w/ buttered onions, warm kraut, caraway, celery salt, and spicy mustard. It's good day to be me!
