Two down, something like ten to go...
Aug. 19th, 2008 05:40 pmLife's been wacky and full lately. All summer, I've seen these two weeks coming to a head. I have something like 10 critical, life-shaping events taking place in them, and I think I've been pretty balanced and peaceful about it all until this week.
Yesterday, I started to lose it. I found myself cursing aloud at the dog (pretty out of character for me), and I realized that I had just reached my highwater stress mark for maybe the last five years.
I'm doing a little better today. Today,
ginger_rose and I took the day off to install my ichiban in her brand new dorm room. There was the craziness of her packing up her life last night, then trying to fit it into the back of my car this morning. Surprisingly, it all fit. We found the dorm, the room, the roommate, unpacked everything, then headed to the grocery store to pick up all the necessary consumables. The two of them (meeting for the first time today, face-to-face) had back-to-back birthdays last week, so they decided to get a cake and invite all their neighbors in for a "Hi! How are you?" impromptu birthday party. Smart girl, someone must have raised her right.
Well, that's one huge event off the list, my firstborn off to university. I just finished another one, but I'll post more on that later this week. Now I need to knuckle down and finish my very last term paper for my masters program and tick that off my list as the third or fourth off the list, depending on timing. Next week, we'll get my niban all set up to enter high school, and then maybe life can slow down a little.
Oh yeah, and Faire's starting this weekend! Everybody come see Art of the Wood and all of the cool new product that Tigger and
ginger_rose have in store for you! I may be late, but I'll be the guy in yellow...

Here's a BIG {{{{{HUG}}}}} for you too!
College you can drive to everyday isn't as traumatic as driving away and leaving her there, but doing it in a tropical storm was interesting. Making friends with cake is nearly ingenious. Good thing her mama's purdy and smart! ::runs::
I'm glad there's calmer waters on your horizon!

Date: 2008-08-21 03:38 pm (UTC)I'm looking forward to seeing you and my wifey's #1 & 2. Tell Wifey #1 (isabella/mimi) that I will be buying a chess set that she won't have to have ready until the 8th weekend. I think I've decided on Wizards and Dragons vs Fairies and Unicorns, if that's OK with her. I'll talk with her more about it on Saturday... yes, I will be there! *grins* I really miss you guys and it looks like I may be moving to NJ in about 6 months or so, so I will be able to come visit occasionally!
